I have studied herbs for many years and have read popular, as well as research materials. Taste of Herbs, aside from being an exceptional learning experience, has been the only experience that has provided a contextual basis for integrating the bits and pieces of information and I have acquired over time. Additionally, I teach cooking for healthier living in community settings. Taste of Herbs has added greater depth to the presentations and provided me with greater ability to answer questions and encourage people to learn more.
What a fantastic course on herbal energetics! Rosalee has a real talent for explaining complex theory in a way that is simplified and makes sense to the Western mind. The exercises with each lesson are not only great recipes to have, but are also fun and enlightening! The real hands on experience with how herbs taste and how we react to them is priceless and every herbalist should experience this first hand. This is a great supplemental course for any TCM or Ayurveda student!
This is such a FUN & TASTY way to learn about herbs! I enjoyed the videos and many of the exercises. I learned quite a bit about herbs along the way. I consider myself an “intermediate” level herbalist and this course was quite useful, well-organized and downright FUN. Who doesn’t need more fun in their life? Rosalee is a delight to listen to and the user-interface is quite friendly. I especially LOVE that I can keep going back to the program to listen again or read the exercises!
I am a newbie to the world of herbs and was a bit concerned that I wouldn’t be able to grasp herbal concepts. I thoroughly enjoyed this course. Taste of Herbs was well presented, easy to follow and had engaging videos and recipes. The hands-on recipes presented under each category were fun, tasty, and helped me understand the properties and energetics of the herbs. I found that I learned more about herbs from this class than reading some of my herbal books. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone who wishes to learn more about herbs.
As I am taking the first steps in this journey of herbal healing, I have found this course the perfect place to start. It can be so daunting, the task of sorting out all the information you find online and in literature. Rosalee does a great job keeping it as simple and straightforward as possible. It has helped to not only sort the overwhelming amount of information, but to also open a Pandora’s box of inspiration…thanks so much for the guidance!
Rosalee did a very thorough and comprehensive presentation in Taste of Herbs. I have taken several herbal classes locally, and this on-line class pulled all the information into a clear, concise, understandable format. I know the information is going to be a great resource in the future as I continue to expand my herbal knowledge. The bonus selections, particularly the videos, were excellent learning tools.
Taste of Herbs was unlike any other herb information source I have found. It combines so many different ways of thinking about herbs, that it was easy to learn and experiment. Rosalee did a fabulous job at explaining the basics. She also dove into the chemistry behind many herbal actions, and my inner “mad” scientist had SO much fun learning! Nothing I could say about this course would do it justice-pure perfection!
The taste of an herb, being the way to determine an herbs use and potency, takes SO much of the guess work out of choosing an appropriate herb to use in different situations.
I am a relative beginner with herbs and have absolutely loved the foundation this course provides. Tasting, touching, smelling…using them in a way that builds knowledge based on experience, rather than simply reading about them. I believe it will shape my whole view of herbs and how I approach learning about them for the rest of my life. This course has truly been a joy to experience!
My birthday resolution was to better my health. I took a chance of trying herbs but didn’t know where to start. Taste of Herbs has given me the tools, knowledge and confidence to make adjustments that have helped me improve my health and that of my family!
I loved Taste of Herbs. I have been using herbs for decades, but I still learned a lot from this. It is always good to hear different ways to use things no matter how long you’ve been at it. I also felt it was very friendly for those who know a few basics. All of the lessons were fun and refreshing. They put things in perspective that brought it all together. What a great way to add another dimension to understanding and using herbs!
LearningHerbs has made it possible to take all kinds of herbal courses I normally would not get the opportunity to take. I have taken several courses and they have all exceeded my expectations. Taste of Herbs was no different. I thoroughly enjoyed the videos and exercises. The course was very organized and easy to use, yet also had a causal feel like Rosalee was right there with you! The exercises and recipes have been amazing. The best part of the Taste of Herbs course is that it got me excited to use the herbs and really put into practice what I was learning. Thank you for this wonderful course! I would highly recommend it.
Developing an understanding of how the tastes of herbs teach us about their actions has given me so much more confidence to try new herbs. This was so much fun!
From a beginner point of view, Taste of Herbs is a great hands-on oriented course. Make room in your pantry, as it will expand! The exercises help incorporate herbs into every day life, step-by-step. Soon you find yourself adding herbs into soups, making herbal jams and compotes, spicing up coffee and drinking herbal infusions at the dinner table. Simple herbal salve recipes are also included in the course. In this process you will discover a whole new realm of tastes and their effect on your body… Schisandra berry anyone?
This was a wonderful course for learning about herbs. The exercises really make it practical to use and incorporate herbs into your everyday life. The variety of herbal recipes in the exercises are very broad-ranging…everything from soups to ointments, salves and many other herbal treatments. Rosalee has researched the material for this course very thoroughly and does a wonderful job of teaching the uses and applications of quite a wide variety of herbs.
I have studied with two different herbal schools and am a certified consulting herbalist, yet I have learned much from Taste of Herbs. It has brought a fresh look to many familiar herbs. The whole course is put together attractively and the exercises are excellent in giving hands on experience to the student. Rosalee’s enthusiasm and expertise exude from each video lesson. Each taste is a delight to explore. I would recommend this course to beginners as well as to more experienced herbalists.
Rosalee and John do a knock out job at presenting herbs from the Taste of Herbs Flavor Wheel perspective. The wheel is ingenious, and the lessons target people of all learning types…visual presentation, hearing, reading, and tactile exercises. It makes remembering herbal constituents easier and is very practical. I highly recommend it!
I have been studying herbs for several years, but this class really helped organize herbs in my head. It helped me know which herbs are similar to each other. It classified herbs in a way that is so simple and SO helpful. I love this class! It has been hands-down the best herbal class I have taken.
I loved learning about spices that are in my own kitchen! It was amazing to learn how to mix different spices that I already had, such as the digestion mix with orange peel, fennel and ginger. I never thought of mixing them and setting them out for digestion. It really works! I also learned about how important bitters are in our diets. I even have my 14 year old granddaughter looking at the Flavor Wheel when she does not feel good, deciding which herbs she needs. She said one time after listening to Rosalee on bitters “I think my liver is sluggish I need some dandelion”. Thank you for beautiful presentations on the videos.
I highly recommend this course! It’s fun, engaging and even for the novice herbalist very easy to understand. There is so much wonderful information to be found here. The herbal exercises are so fun and they offer great ideas on how to incorporate herbs into your everyday life.
Taste of Herbs really helped me learn how to know herbs on a more personal level. The videos are fantastic, as are the exercises. The fact that you can access the course indefinitely is an added bonus. I definitely recommend it.
Rosalee had a way of explaining things that make learning about herbs easy to comprehend… even for someone who had just started learning. She starts with the basics of herbal actions, categorizes them into flavors, and then tops it all off with hands-on assignments. No matter your style of learning, there is something here for everyone.
Taste of Herbs is amazing! This is a great way to learn actions and flavors instead of memorizing facts. You get a great understanding of how flavor corresponds to an action and why.
The Taste of Herbs course was clear and concise. It brought a somewhat complicated group of theories (such as Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda, and body constitutions) and tied them all together. I brought the Taste of Herbs Flavor Wheel chart to a gathering of herbies, most of whom are practicing, and they all loved it.
Prior to this course, I was not attracted to learning more about herbs… at all. This course, beginning with the Taste of Herbs Flavor Wheel, lured me in and exceeded my expectations. It is the most pleasant, while effective, education session I’ve EVER participated in. The videos, graphics, Rosalee’s soothing voice, and music are beautiful. The homework is a fun way to bond with the herbs. Taste of Herbs cleverly utilizes all senses to help you learn and retain what you learned. It’s very creative and truly wonderful. I highly recommend this course. It is worth so much more than the price. It will be a learning experience you will cherish.
This course helps us to “see” herbalism is a new way! Rosalee is so very knowledgeable and shares these ideas in an easily assessable way. Her presentations are fun to watch! Her exercises really allow you to play with and apply the concepts she has presented. There is so much material to study within this one course!
I was drawn to Taste of Herbs because of my own health issues and my child’s respiratory issues. There is so much to learn and comprehend in herbalism that it can make your head spin! These videos are like sitting down with a friend who holds your hand and gently explains the foundations of traditional herbalism and how the five tastes offer a roadmap to health and vitality. I’m gaining more natural intuition and creativity thanks to Rosalee’s wonderful approachability.
Rosalee has a way of explaining things that a first-grader could understand. How does she do that with such difficult subjects? Because her knowledge is so deep. And I love her analogies! I’d take the course again, but oh wait, I don’t have to! Now I have access to the course forever! Thank you, Rosalee.
I have been interested in herbalism for many years, but had not found a course that was “doable” with my life… as the mom of young children and working part-time. This course was a fabulous option and well worth the money! I could work through it at my own pace and the material was very accessible. Even after studying just the first section, I felt I had a number of tools at my disposal to begin to implement herbs in my family’s life. The Q & A with Rosalee is a great addition and makes the material even more understandable. I would HIGHLY recommend this course to anyone!
